This resource is located about 7 km underneath the surface.
However, the life is not easy; the 4 out of 7 km are rock salt, which is even harder than rock and it makes it very difficult to penetrate. Although it will take about 7 years for the first drop of oil to be pumped out, many developed countries and the biggest oil companies in the world are now trying to get their slice of the cake.
Going back to the Olympic issue, does anybody realize yet that the Olympic games and the first extraction of oil will happen around the same period?
Do you think there is a connection here?
I believe these two events will be the most significant things in next decade for Brazil, and they could be used to put pressure on the participation in the oil earnings.
It is obvious that Brazil is going to make a lot of money from these events, but the question we should discuss is: "How much will it lose?"

You bring up a good point. I heard another teacher talking about this recently. While I think most of us want to see Brazil succeed and receive more global recognition, the country is going to have to invest a lot of money and resources before it sees any returns. Hopefully it'll all be worth it.
